Hey Dave: what's up, I guss hey, you know I wanted to catch up with you.We haven't seen each other in a while, because Wev both been busy. You were inArizona, visiting your family, yes Tuson. Howwas that it was delightful to dry heat, as theysay what grows in Arizona? Well, whatever does grows very slowly, soyard work. You have to be precise, because you could make a mistake thatcol last forever, but if you do it right, it's great because you don'thave to touch it again for two years, so wait any any old old haunts you wentto. I Beg your pardon Lik. You Know PizzaShops, Oh yeah, anhe, old, hants, anyplace, Yo used to go and loved. Well, there's three things that I had to put on my list. The first was mariois pizza on firstavenue. Ias always always a key yeah. I sat alone by myself and had multipleslides, an pizza and we had about IC.

What do you put on your pizza? This isjust at Marias. You just go straight cheese and it's about as thin as apiece of paper. So I think I rolled it up. I made it like a Burito and then what were the other two placesJack in a box which is a popular fast food chain? We don't have those here, but not in the eastern part of the US, so I had a whole just a wide selectionof different Jack and box specialties so and then from a Mexican standpointMexican Food Cassa Malena. Is it like it's the real I mean in Tuson you'resixty miles from the border, so you're talking real ut, it's not texmax yeahmnadmax or whatever really did you have Margerita. I didnot have a Margarita Youwere, a good boy. I know I was a good boy. I wasvisiting my family yeuere, visiting your family Soei. How was your family? How Was Your Dad Doing? Well, yeah still just enjoying the lifestyle out. Lest did you ride pastthe stadium,...

...the old grade, Lady Lady, as they callit the Arizon a football homefield? Yes, I did they like a Tiar come down, because you were so sad that you missed it so much. Well that- and I wasthinking about their lost to Hawaii- oh yeah. So U, for both reasons. Yes yeah it was now. I was in Arizona. Youwere here, I believe, or I was here yeah I did one show Camon I did a showwho was that we talked to Cam Ro, so we talked to while you were gone.I had a conversation with on a podcast with the Harvard health study, EugeneRobson from the NFL and and Dor Rosafonte from the study, which was pretty cool, got alot of information. Both played wiff Aball, Oh yes, so so we're still, Ithink, we're over ninety percent. To be, to be honest, thereare are only ahandful at we've interviewed out of twenty plus. It have not had wuffaballsa intregal part of their childhood...

...right, and then I took the rest of that time to planfor my fantasy football league, because I was A to thousand and eighteenchampion, but you know after the first week of season, I'm not starting offvery good. What happened there? My Team I started Jared Goff and on the bench Ihad Lamar Jackson, Hmm Jared Goff got me fourteen points where little MarkJackson, I think, got sixty at one of the forks in the road andyeah you gotta kind of, say. Okay, I the runner going to do wellers thepassor, and then the pastor became the the guy. Didn't do so well, and therunner became the guy that we had ha perfect quarterback rating and yeahunred and fifty three oould five, no douns. There is probably no body who would have bet any money onthat like like. If ther were, if they wouldhave been like unfandal, and they would have said all right, I'm going to put...

...what what would odds have been for forLamar Jackson to get a perfect quarterback rating, the first gameagainst Miami Dolphins quite low right. Even if you went to good Bookicom, theyright, we would have been low on that to they probably wouldn't even take it.It like nobody like just no one would ever think that's got right possible, but hen did it. Hollywood Brown was running all over the dolpins and ourpoor man, Ryan, Fitz, Patrick, never even had a chance. I mean he'd have abad game, but they got behind you fast yeah. You knowwhen you're losing by four touchdowns in the first half, it's just not notfun. I have a feeling he's going to bounce back this week, so howdid yoursteelers do this week they got off to the slow start.Speaking O slow starts. Yes, not real happy with the play, calling alot of lot of shotgun. A lot of noback in the backfield is never like that.Well, you know me I'm from Pittsburgh. I love the old steelers, that's who Igrew up on and then I played for a lot...

...of team. So I'm not really like a hugesealer fans, but I do fallim because I live here and I miss the old days oflike when the Bos was here and the line up in the eye and put two tight ends inand just used to ram the football down people's throat and they're just notdoing that anymore. No. Now on third and one down twenty to zero at the goalline they're at a shotgun, I mean it's ridiculous. I think you can do that atsome point like sometimes when it's like, but that's all they do yeah. Theydon't there's no play action. The zero play action Ben won't even sneak it.Even though he's six five. Fifty do you feel like you feel like if you're inthat set all the time, then coaches find a way to figure you out. Thatmight be the case. Yes and that might have started about five years ago withthet, and how do you feel about? We know everything that's goingon nfl with AB and how crazy he is right now. But how do you feel like...

...you feel like that, had any kind ofeffect because he left on the on a wide receiver cor on Ben on how they antheir production? Well, I know he wouldn't have four drops like Mon KryFat. That's one right off the bat! That's obvious! It's that's a sad thing to watch. Also,S Y, your big free agent acquisition as four drops and seven yards wel didn'treally matter. I don't think it would have mattered who they got in freeagency, wasn't going to make up for fifteen touchdowns and all the artsthat Ab had now the crazy getting him out of the lock room, probably was good.So you know it's funny how coaches have a whole offseason to think about thingsand how they're going to approach playing the Super Bowl champions, I'm just not so sure when the SuperBowl champions starting linebacker is out and he'syour best player that you just don't try to run a Balt, underthroat orthreat of the tight end, which often is...

...very successful, and you have a goodtihten, dude fance McDonald ut. They don't even try to exploit that guy and-and I agree, but then you know thinking looking at the steelers and being anadvocate for them as well saying we had a plan this, what we said we were goingto do you got to stick with it, you got to go in and do it and if it doesn'twork, it doesn't work and- and you know it's funny- it's like there'sno real blame, because you know it is what it is everybodybought into it. Well, they're, not the first team in the League to go into theBuz saw at touts wor, I mean it's the same thing if you live. If you look atthe scores from maybe the last ten times, they've played it's not thirty, three to three, but it's the average is like thirty, four ten, so it happensright there's, not many teams. I mean, since Brady's been the quarterback, howmany teams have gone into Foxbarn, one very few, and especially out of thatone thing that doesn't get talked about and it should get talked about more. Igive the Patriots all kinds of credit,...

...they've hant. Twenty years now of a lotof success, they've been consistently playing in the worst division infootball. In my opinion, over those twenty years, except for one year and ofive and I played for the dolphins except in eqarterback to O, is kidding. But yes in general, though, jets are usually garbage that bills, you knowit's just it's there. They buil they build a nine and onerecord right off the bat. It's no. I agree. I agree all right Dave, so tellour fans what you like to do in your free time. I enjoy thinking about my gloriers ofwifflball with aball. You have a mean curve. I will go ut we'll go backlerver curve, it's a little buth, actually a knuckle curve, depending onhow you grip it. It can be pretty tricky. That's what she said. That's yright, it's not the first time. I 've heardthat what about you, we can go back andforth. What do you like to do in your...

...free time, but pretty much? I get ahoney do list and I have a yard that I have to take care of and then sits. My wife and he's working fulltime now I do a lot of laundry got to be home with the dogs. Let themout take them for walks. Do that kind of stuff? Maintain the guard and cutthe grass do all that kind of crazy stuff. But when I get my chance, I loveto golf. Go play a little golf and then my other hobby is I collect cardsohbaseball car baseball cards. I do have some old football cards but t forsome reason. I've always just loved old baseball cards, like you know, kind ofpre, one thousand nine hudred and seventy. Oh you like the real see my mygo to if ID to pick a baseball card is about one thousand nine hundred andseventy eight yeah for the pictures for the back. They used to have littledrawings on the back. Noh Yeah theyd show that, like the trajectory of theHomerun, but it was in drawing form yeah.

I just like the idea that you know I'mkind of holding like my favorite card IAVE, a Reberta Clemeni rookie cardyouus. Holding to me it's almost like a piece of history. I know that there's alot of them that were made, but it's just so cool to have a card that oldand a piece of of time that were never going to getback. I think of when I'm not fantasizingabout wilfelball glory, also opening going to like a seven eleven and seeing that there are cards stillstocked where you could buy him save go back, O one thousand nine undre andeight o yeah and your you could ride your bike ride your bike grab like fourpacks. Sometimes Hiy, wouldn't even let you buy the n entire box because theywant to spread him out ot it right. But if you take as many as you could orcould afford, and then you opening process going slowly through each one.My grandfather used to bring home like half dollar like the full half dollar, and I take him. We had a little post office in Fort Cliff where the KAHATSran and it was a post office. You can...

...go, get candy in there. You go by food, you know like stuff, you needed and you go buy two packs of cards andsome candy for, like twenty five cents right it was, it was great and youwouldo eat the bubble. I never bought bubblegum because I got all the cardyeah bubble. Almost terrible. Now you could like you, could scrape the painoff your garage with t a bubble gum o. It was fun to get it smelt right. Youcould turn it into a real like Ninja Star. That's what now hard it was I toc sharp corners on Itwa carful opening the pack. So theyve we've been going atthis for a while. I've really enjoyed our conversations with our guests. Ithink we're bringing a new look to a new sound and to life and tellingpeople stories in how sports really affects us all in some way or another. How do you how you feeling lately about what what we've been doing? Well, whatI really enjoy and like, for instance, we just got done with the interviewwith the great jethisman. We barely spoke about his years of the redskins. We didn't talk about his broken leg. We...

...didn't even really get into his time asan analyst a ESPN. We talked about what made him first, really love sports. What inspired him, how he played sports when he was a kid and his him in theneighborhood going to find round up kids to play baseball or footballrasketball or whatever play Don to desk? You don't hear that very often right, especially from some of the great athletes. So you want to you know mostshows you listen to nowadays ar talking about contracts enceter and you canwaat in a million PLAC, and we found out why he, you know almost why he never played thegame that wonder if he's ever, even told that story before I don't know,I've never heard it, but he wasn'. You know just for those people at Havng getlistened to it. He was not allowed to play football byhis mom. She said it was too dangerous, so his best friend Tommy came fullygeared to the front door to demonstrate to Mrs Tiesman at the time, not beforehis higsman days,...

...that in fact the uniforms were safe andsuitable for protection, and after that moment she allowed Joe to play footballe and, as he said, he may never have played football. If Tommy had knockedin the door outiformd, I would have been playing shorts up for the oriols.Instead, you don't get that on Sport Center. No, you don't and you don't,but all right Dave. So I think we're going to try something little new everyweek and try to catch up on how we're doing what's going on in our lives and-and I think this is a good start- all right. Everyone join us on the huddleup and just randomly we like to put outshows Cam Halldem in our director, Terry Schaman. We like tell them thanksfor all the hard work they do, and it's just it's just it's a labor of love andI think we're progressing in the right way. So thanks for joining us on theHUDDLEUP WITH GUS.
